Haunted?

Postby UKkel » Mon Jun 09, 2008 7:18 am

I always saw this house from the interstate on the way from or to Chicago from Bloomington. I was always told it was haunted and I always jokingly asked my dad to buy it, however I was always told it was not for sale and that no one wanted it because all the previous owners had died therefore, now haunting the place.
I was so excited to see that the house had a new owner and someone who wants to take care of it and restore it to it's glory. It is such a beautiful house and I was so disappointed to find out that the house was going to be open for tour when I could not be there.
I have also been told that Mr. Duncan's brother had a large house too and that they always tried to out-do each other, which lead to the Duncan manor being built. I believe a high school friend or mine's family lives in the other home, which is also a gorgeous house.

Dear UKkel - I am very interested in knowing of a house built by Mr. Duncan's brother. The only brother he had that I am aware of stayed in KY with the family and was disabled. I researched the Duncan family for over a year and published the book "Duncan Manor" which I sold at the open house in June. I did not locate any information about a brother building a house locally. I would appreciate you sharing the story and the location of the house. Thank you, Nancy Miller, Bloomington, IL.

I had always heard or read that it wasn't a competition with his brother but a rival livestock raiser for the size and elegence of the house.
